Helping Iconic Games Close Their $13m SeedFundraise

Iconic Interactive is an AI-native gaming company working on something genuinely different.

The team develops on-device AI technology for voice-driven game play, giving players the ability to influence narrative and world-building through spoken interaction. Their early prototype, The Oversight Bureau, shows how AI gaming technology can give players real agency in ways traditional game mechanics simply don’t allow.

That ambition, paired with some seriously impressive technical execution, has quickly caught the attention of leading investors across AI, gaming, and consumer tech.

This meant that, as Iconic entered their seed round, speed really mattered. The team wanted the right long-term partners around the table, but they also needed a legal process that could keep pace with the business.

As Junaid Hussain, Co-founder of Iconic, said:

“Founders Law were exactly what we needed during the fundraise, commercial, pragmatic and completely aligned with how fast we needed to move.”

Our role

Founders Law supported Iconic throughout the startup fundraising process, acting as venture capital legal advisers and working closely with the founders as the round came together.

Our focus was on keeping things efficient and commercial: structuring the round cleanly, managing the legal work across multiple lead and strategic investors, and helping maintain momentum from start to finish.

For fast-moving AI and gaming startups, fundraising is rarely straightforward. As the Iconic team noted,

“They understood both the technology and the realities of raising from top-tier venture capitalinvestors, which made a huge difference.”

From our side, the goal was simple. Abdul Khan, Senior Associate and Head of Fundraising at Founders Law said

As we saw it, Iconic is a great example of an AI gaming startup building genuinely category-defining technology. Our role was to make sure the legal process supported that ambition, rather than slowing it down.”

The outcome

Iconic successfully closed a $13m AI gaming seed round, co-led byKindred and Northzone, with Google joining as a strategic investor.

The funding gives the team the backing they need to accelerate product development and continue scaling their voice-driven, AI-powered games, supported by investors who understand both the technology and the long-term vision.

Why it matters

Raising capital at the intersection of AI, gaming and consumer tech brings its own set of challenges, from investor expectations to deal structure and long-term positioning.

At Founders Law, we work with high-growth startups and scaleups through critical moments like fundraising, offering commercial-first legal advice that feels like an extension of the founding team.

Iconic’s fundraise is a great example of what can happen when ambitious founders, aligned investors and experienced startup fundraising lawyers work together to close a complex round without losing momentum.
